Transfer cpanel to another since I’m leaving Stanford
I’m leaving Stanford soon and my cpanel runs out group’s website, can I transfer ownership to another Stanford user?
Yes, you can (i.e, you are leaving Stanford and have another team members to manage). Please submit a ServiceNow support ticket for assistance and request that your cpanel be transferred to a specific person. Please include the primary domain (cpanel) along with the name and SUNetID of the individual you’d. Once the transfer is completed, you will no longer have access to the cpanel and your named replacement will become the “owner” of the cpanel.
Share WordPress Management
I’d like to share management of our WordPress website with other members of my team, can you help?
No need, as the current owner of a cpanel and WordPress website(s), you can create users and assign roles within WordPress (and some other installed applications) which give the users specific rights. One of those rights could be a WordPress administrator. When assigning a user in WordPress as administrator, it’s only for the wordpress instance the person is placed in. If you have more than one instance, you’ll need to add them with rights in each WordPress site.
Share cpanel Management
I need to share management of my group’s cpanel so that I have a backup when I’m not available, can I share my cpanel. While it’s not recommended, we understand why and can currently support multiple SUNetIDs managing the same cpanel. Each person with access to a cpanel is a co-owner of the cpanel. Co-owner ship brings the ability to add/remove files and directories, add/remove applications and websites, add/remove other co-owners. Please submit a ServiceNow support ticket, please include the primary domain (cpanel) name along with the name and SUNetID of the individual you’d like to be added as a co-owner.
